EU Supports Women Own Land In Kasempa
In the year 2022, NGOCC through support from European Union (EU), reached out to 6,356 people (3,792 females and 2,564 males) through trainings and community sensitization with information on women land rights and the importance of women owning land. Furthermore, more than 38,000 people (based on Radio coverage) were sensitised through five community radio stations namely Voice of Kalomo (Kalomo district), Mannu radio (Choma district), Maranatha (Kabwe) and Adtroit radio (covering Luangwa and Nyimba districts). The information was appreciated by those that were reached out to and Rosemary Muteba of Kabwe district had this to say:
“I am happy to know that I can be given land by my headman. When I got widowed all the land we used for cultivation with my late husband was repossessed by his relatives and my seven children and I had to relocate back to my parents village. There at my parents, I had nowhere to do my farming and this forced me to rent a small field. With this information I have received I am going to apply for my own land and my children will have some land to inherit when I am gone said Rosemary Muteba – Kabwe.
